Football Gambling – Crimson Tide at Tigers

NCAA football betting players know that the SEC is the best conference in the country, and winning the SEC is a solid way to try and get to the BCS title game. Alabama knows first-hand as the defending national champions, and even with a loss, they’re still in the hunt as they prepare to go to LSU this weekend.

Alabama LSU Betting – Saturday, November 6th, 8:00 PM ET

The No.6 Crimson Tide (7-1, 4-1) were idle last week, and they’ve won two in a row after losing at South Carolina. The Crimson Tide will go on the road to Baton Rouge before finishing the season with three straight home games against Mississippi State, Georgia State and the “Iron Bowl” showdown against Auburn. Alabama has a balanced offense that is 23rd in the nation, while the defense is 11th, but the Crimson Tide are second in points allowed. Despite being off this week, the Crimson Tide moved up a spot in the BCS rankings and if they manage to win out this season, they could very well end up in the title game once again.

The No.10 Tigers (7-1, 4-1) are also coming off a bye week after a 24-17 loss at Auburn, and to be honest, it’s good that they kept the game close on the road in that battle of the Tigers.

LSU’s defense, led by future NFL pick Patrick Patterson at cornerback, is seventh in the country and the only reason that they remain in a number of games because the offense is terrible, ranking 101st in the country. If they had an offense that was even 50th in the country, the Tigers would probably be in the BCS title discussion, but chances are coach Les Miles would have eventually found a way to lose it.

Online football betting odds have the Crimson Tide as a 6.5-point favorite on the road in Baton Rouge, where Alabama is 2-3 SU in their last five trips, but they’re also 4-1 ATS. This will be another game that the LSU defense has to win for the Tigers, because their offense isn’t going to be successful against the Crimson Tide. Look for LSU to try and force the run down the throats of the Crimson Tide, but Alabama is just as good defending on the ground as they are against the pass. The Crimson Tide have a balanced enough offense that they can figure out ways to score points on the Tigers, but it would be good if Mark Ingram could have a big game; the defending Heisman winner hasn’t run for 100 yards in four straight games, and that would be a huge spark for Alabama.

Online sports betting pick: Alabama -6.5
