Ball State Cardinals (1-10) v Western Michigan Broncos (5-6)
Ball State: 5-5 ATS / Western Michigan: 3-7 ATS

The Ball State Cardinals will hope to finish their season with a win as they head to Western Michigan to face off against the Broncos on Tuesday at Waldo Stadium.

These two teams last met on Nov 25, 2008. Ball State walked away with a 45-22 win, clinching a spot in the Mid-American Conference championship game.

The Cardinals’ milestone victory capped their first perfect regular season since going 8-0 in 1949, their first undefeated conference season since 1978 and clinched a second straight bowl bid for the first time in school history.

But this year is drastically different. The Cardinals have just a single win and have lost three straight games. Ball State was embarrassed for another time this season, falling to Central Michigan 35-3 in Week 12.

Ball State was held without a touchdown for the first time this season, gained only 231 yards of total offense while giving up 344 yards through the air and four touchdown passes by Chippewas quarterback Dan LeFevour.

The bright spot was that Ball State did not commit a single penalty against Central Michigan. Tight End Zane Fakes left the game against Central Michigan after spraining an ankle in the third quarter, but should be available for the season finale at Western Michigan.

The Broncos forced six turnovers, and quarterback Tim Hiller threw four touchdown passes to lead Western Michigan to a 35-14 victory over Eastern Michigan in Week 11. Hiller needs two more to tie Chad Pennington of Marshall to tie the MAC all-time record. The Broncos will need to win this game just to finish the season with a 6-6 record and maybe a chance for a bowl invitation.

Cardinals vs. Broncos Odds:

The odds makers currently have Western Michigan as –10-point favorites and a game total of 51.

Ball State will need to take advantage of Western Michigan’s sub par defense that at times has proved to be a liability this season. The Broncos will rely on quarterback TIm Hiller to have another stellar performance, shredding the Cardinals 116th ranked pass defense.
