ASU locked itself into the Pac-12 title game with its win over the UCLA Bruins last weekend. Both of these rivals have momentum, but only one can come away with a victory in Week 14.

Arizona

Arizona dominated the Oregon Ducks last weekend, and they did it by controlling the clock. They had the ball for 12 more minutes than the Ducks, and they used their power running game to dominate their opponents’ front line of defense.

Defensively, look for Arizona to make the Sun Devils one-dimensional. Marion Grice is questionable for ASU this weekend, meaning Taylor Kelly will become the star of the Sun Devils’ offense.

If the Wildcats can make Kelly do it on his own, they’re in good shape.

Protecting the quarterback is the other area where Arizona can, and must make a difference. We saw what B.J. Denker can do last week, and that kind of performance will undoubtedly give the Wildcats the edge in this one.

The team is second in the Pac-12 in sacks allowed, and that theme must remain true against players such as Will Sutton and Chris Young.

Arizona State

The Arizona State Sun Devils may have guaranteed a shot at a Pac-12 championship with their win last week, but a win against Arizona will give them home-field advantage against the Stanford Cardinal next weekend.

ASU must remain disciplined in this one and not let the rivalry aspect of the competition phase them. Arizona will look to control the clock, but if the Sun Devils can control the ball and avoid turnovers, it shouldn’t matter how often they have possession.

Getting pressure on the quarterback is going to be important, but even bigger for ASU will be stopping Ka’Deem Carey. If he’s having a big game, so are the Wildcats.

Meeting him at the line of scrimmage is going to be huge, as his powerful running style allows him to make plays after contact on a regular basis.

Expect this game to be close through three quarters, but don’t be shocked if Arizona State proves why it’s the No. 12 team in the country and pulls away in the final period.

The Wildcats showed that they can get it done last week, but in a close matchup late, you have to trust the team that has gotten it done all season.

Arizona is just 2-6 ATS in its last eight outings against winning programs, while the Sun Devils are 6-2 ATS in the last eight home contests.

Prediction: Arizona State 38 – Arizona 27
