Since 1893, the Crimson Tide and Tigers have played 73 times. Alabama leads the all-time series, with 39 wins to Auburn’s 33, with one tie.

The Crimson Tide walked away with one of the most lopsided victories ever, 36-0 on Nov. 29 2008.

The depth-plagued Tigers are coming off a much needed bye after playing 11 consecutive weeks with few, if any, reserves. Auburn lost 31-24 at Georgia on Nov. 14. Quarterback Chris Todd completed 20-for-28 for 238 yards with two touchdowns in the loss. Defense has been an issue for the Tigers, especially against the run. Auburn’s rush defense is ranked 88th, and will to improve especially on the cusp of facing one of the best running backs in the country, Alabama’s Mark Ingram.

Ingram, who recently appeared on the cover of SI, ran for 102 yards and TDs of 25 and 40 yards in the first 20 minutes, during a 45-0 thrashing of lower-division UT-Chattanooga last week. Quarterback Greg McElroy was 6-of-11 passing for 80 yards, including that 19-yard touchdown pass to WR Julio Jones. Jones caught three passes for 65 yards, all in the first half. Alabama has outscores opponents 354-109 so to say that the defense has been solid is understatement.
