The team got back starting forward Jonathan Holmes in their last game, an 88-71 win over West Virginia. Holmes is the team’s leading scorer and returned for that game after a one-game absence due to a knee injury.

He played 21 minutes and racked up 11 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes. He had played only nine minutes and accumulated just two points and one rebound before exiting the Kansas State game, the team’s only loss in its last 10 contests.

Guard Javan Felix has picked up his play while Holmes recovers, averaging 22.5 points over the last two games.

Iowa State’s scoring situation has been a little more up in the air. Forward Melvin Ejim scored a Big 12 record-tying 49 points against TCU on Feb. 8, but has accumulated just 19 over the Cyclones’ last two games. Iowa State lost one of those games at West Virginia, but they downed Texas Tech in Ames on Saturday by a score of 70-64.

Standout guard DeAndre Kanes carried the team with a near double-double, recording 17 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds, chipping in two steals for good measure. Even still, Ejim’s 18.9 points per game lead the conference.

Iowa State has been a very different team when playing at home, winning five of their six Big 12 games in their own building, with four of those games coming against ranked opponents, and the lone loss coming against the conference-leading Kansas Jayhawks.

Looking further back, the Cyclones are 5-1 against ranked opponents at James H. Hilton Coliseum this season, and 44-4 overall in their last 48 home games.

They’ll look to avenge an earlier loss to Texas, dropping an 86-76 decision to the Longhorns in Ames back in January. Holmes led all scorers with 23 points in that game.

The Longhorns have been on a roll of late, while the Cyclones have been struggling to find scoring. Texas has also been strong in this series, winning 11 of the last 13 meetings.

The Cyclones are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall, while the Longhorns are 4-1 ATS in their last five games versus teams with a winning record.

The play: Texas +5
