This is one of the two best college basketball rivalries in all of college basketball, and on Saturday we will see why yet again as these two teams meet for the 234th time, with the Heels holding a 131-102 edge.

It was not that long ago when Duke guard, Austin Rivers sent a dagger into the hearts of Tar Heel fans everywhere with his buzzer beating three a few short weeks ago.

North Carolina will no doubt be out for revenge, and will try to return the favor in the trip to Cameron. A place that has been fairly kind to the Heels over the last couple of years.

They have won four of their last six when playing in front of the “Cameron Crazies”. An environment where not many schools excel.

The buzz this season has been about how good North Carolina’s front court is, and rightfully so, but it all gets started in the back with point guard, Kendall Marshall.

The Tar Heels’ lead guard is averaging nearly 10 assists per contest, which is second in the entire country, and first by over three per game in the ACC. He also leads the league in assist/turnover ratio which is pretty astounding considering how much North Carolina runs. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

On the other hand, you have a Duke team that lives and dies behind the three-point line. This team shoots over 20 threes per game. That’s nearly 40 percent of their shots coming from distance. A pretty incredible number from a team that is 26-4.

The Devils three main pieces are a bit unusual for a Duke program as well. A freshman(Austin Rivers), a transfer(Seth Curry), and a big man that is not exactly known as a banger(Ryan Kelly).

They have other players no doubt, but these three have been carrying the load offensively all season long.

The key to this game is the same as any other game that Duke has played, or will play all season long. If they are hitting from outside, they are incredibly tough to beat.

North Carolina played a pretty faultless game for about 35 minutes the last time, and they still walked away with a one point defeat. It only gets more difficult within the confines of Cameron Indoor.
