Michigan Wolverines vs. Florida Gators Preview

Florida ended Florida Gulf Coast’s Cinderella won and while they won that game by double digits they did not shoot the rock well. NCAAB lines have Florida as 3-point favorites in this game with a total of 131.

In their last game Michigan beat Kansas 87-85 in OT and Florida beat Florida Gulf Coast 62-50.

On the season Michigan is 17-16-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 20-14 and Florida is 18-15 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 12-18.

In this South Region title game Florida is the 3rd seed and Michigan is the 4th seed.

While Michigan did not play great D in the Kansas game allowing the Jayhawks to shoot almost 55% from the field their offense came up big shooting almost 50% from the floor and all 5 starters all scored in double figures.

While Michigan is known for their great backcourt led by Player of the Year candidate Trey Burke, who scored 23 points in the win over Kansas, and Tim Hardaway Jr. FW Mitch McGary was the big gun in the Kansas game with 25 points and 14 boards. If the Wolverines can play a solid all around game they have a good chance to pull off the upset. [ad-6571516]

Florida only shot 38.6% from the floor in their win over Florida Gulf Coast, but they played good D and they forced 20 turnovers with their very athletic backcourt.

The 2 leading scorers of the Gators in Erik Murphy and Kenny Boynton only combined for 11 points in the Florida Gulf game and these 2 guys may have to get back to scoring if they are going to beat a deep Michigan team.

Neither team is a great rebounding one, but each was solid on the boards in their last game. That is especially key for the Wolverines, who have such great shooters in the backcourt.

In some betting trends for this South Region final Michigan is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games, and they have an Over record of 11-4-1 in their last 16 neutral site games.

Florida is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and they have an Under record of 10-2 in their last 12 games overall.

Jason’s Pick: I have to go with Michigan in this game, as they are coming off a great win over Kansas and while their backcourt is great their frontcourt has come up big in the Big Dance. Michigan will at least cover the spread.
