The Penn State Nittany Lions could easily be 6-0 in their last six games, but they lost by a single possession on the road at Ohio State and Purdue. This team is playing some very good basketball right now, and they are making a serious push to be among the teams considered for the NCAA Tournament. Illinois is a supremely talented team that has been inconsistent so far this year. They have some big wins, but they have also lost some games they shouldn’t have, especially their last game at Indiana. Illinois is tough to beat at home, but Penn State is full confidence right now. This should be an interesting Big Ten matchup. 
Talor Battle is the star of the Penn State team. Battle may be the best point guard in the conference, and he shoulders a lot of the load for this Nittany Lions squad. He averages 20.4 points per game, and he does a nice job getting the rest of the team involved as well. Jeff Brooks has stepped up this year and served as a nice force for Penn State on the inside. Brooks has solid low-post moves and he can shoot the mid-range jumper very well. David Jackson is often the key man for this team, because when he plays very well Penn State is very tough to beat.
The Fighting Illini of Illinois are one of the more dangerous teams in the conference, but they have also struggled with inconsistency. Demetri McCamey is their leader at the point guard position, and his matchup with Talor Battle should be a great one. The Fighting Illini have very skilled guards in Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson. The frontcourt of Mike Tisdale, Mike Davis, and Jereme Richmond is solid as well. Illinois has struggled to close out games this year, and they have lost several games they could have very easily won. This team has the potential, but they must improve.
