NC State Wolfpack vs Louisville Cardinals Preview

This game is being held at a neutral site at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York

In their last games NC State beat Villanova 71-68 and Louisville beat Northern Iowa 66-53.

In an East Region Sweet 16 game the 4th seed Louisville Cardinals face the 8th seed NC State Wolfpack.

NC State is the lower seed and they are the 2.5-ppint betting underdog in this game, but they scored a HUGE upset in the last game beating the region’s top seed in Villanova.

NC State has won 5 of their last 6 games and Louisville lost 2 of their last 3 games of the regular season before winning 2 straight in the Big Dance.

While NC State has won both of their NCAA Tournament games facing teams from major conferences in LSU and Villanova Louisville has beaten 2 teams from weaker conferences in UC Irvine, where they narrowly avoided a major upset winning by 2 points, and Northern Iowa.

These 2 ACC teams met this season at Louisville with the Wolfpack beating the Cardinals 74-65. In that game the Cardinals only shot 32.8% from the floor and their leading scorer for the game in G Chris Jones was dismissed from the program late in the season.

NC State will be playing a Louisville team that is very athletic and plays great pressure defense, which forced 10 turnovers and held Northern Iowa to only 39% shooting.

The Wolfpack are led by the G duo of Trevor Lacey and Ralston Turner, who are the team’s leading scorers. Turner really struggled in the Villanova game only going for 4 points all coming on free throws. 3rd leading scorer Anthony Barber is also a guard and he went for 21 points in the earlier win over Louisville.

While NC State is led by their guards they have a solid front line as well and in their win over Louisville in the regular season they outscored the Cardinals 32-16 in the paint.

Louisville leading scorer Terry Rozier went for 25 points in the Northern Iowa game. Montrezl Harrell is the 2nd leading scorer and also the team’s leading rebounder and his play will be key tonight both on offense and his D in the paint.

Louisville has advanced the Final 4 in 2 of the last 3 seasons and they won the National Title in 2013.

4* Cappers NCAAB Free Pick

I have to go with NC State in this game, as they are playing great and I not only think they will cover the 2.5-point spread, but win as well advancing to the Elite 8.
