Mississippi

They are not looking quite as good as they did in their early season run but this is an experienced and dangerous team catching a break by getting a La Salle team that also pulled an upset on Friday.

I am not a believer in the Rebels but because of their opponent they have a good chance of playing on to the next round.

The story for the Rebels starts and stops with gunner guard Marshall Henderson. Ole Miss has won their last 6 games and Henderson scored 20 or more in all of those game except for their tournament win against Wisconsin.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a one man team though. Henderson may be the heart but the frontcourt duo of Reginald Buckner and Murphy Holloway are experience and very productive.

Against the smaller Explorers they should play prominent roles.

I am not a fan of Ole Miss and was surprised they were able to beat the Badgers. They can certainly roll against La Salle but consistency hasn’t really been there thing this season. At -3 there is good value even though I don’t trust these guys.

Marshall Henderson is just too much of a wild card for me. [ad-6571516]

La Salle

The La Salle explorers are proving once again that being in the “First Four” is not a tournament death sentence. They beat Boise State then took out one of the toughest teams in America – Kansas State.

Both of these team’s chances of advancing are enhanced by this matchup and both have proven to be able to take down top teams. Someone gets to win this one and advance to the Sweet Sixteen as a surprise.

The Explorers might have won their game against KSU at the free throw line – better than 80% (or the Wildcats lost it by shooting horribly). Burly forward Jerrell Wright was near perfect for the game on the way to leading La Salle with 21 points – he was 6 for 6 from the field and 9 for 10 from the line.

He more than doubled his seasonal average and if they keep finding unsung heroes they can continue to advance.

We have already seen La Salle pull of two upset victories so you have to wonder how much more magic they have left in them. I like the Explorers again because Ole Miss has shown the ability to implode.

I think this one might climb a little as gametime approaches because many will doubt La Salle’s ability to keep it up.

Spread Pick: La Salle +3
O/U Pick: Under

So Lasalle plays Ole Miss, but you have them beating Memphis in your score? NICE!
