ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Kansas

There is no doubt this is a very talented team but far too often it looks a little too meek out there – I think that with all their youth they are really lacking that player who can be a coach on the floor.

Life in the B12 has them looking to get back to winning against a mercurial Baylor team that is coming off a super important win over Oklahoma State

SF Andrew Wiggins is not going to live up to the hype.

You can marvel at his physical talents but he leaves you wanting more because his game is just not fully developed – 3 times in his last 10 games he has failed to score even 10 points. I think you can lay the same criticism against all of their to players. There is no Raef Lafrentz kind of guy who you just know is going to go to work and give you 15 points.

PF Perry Ellis looks like he could be that guy but he disappears too often.

Kansas is 5-2-1 ATS in B12 play. This could be a great buying opportunity as they are just a 3.5 point favourite which is the smallest of any game they have been favoured in in conference but I think you can find better values out there. The Bears were once a top 10 team too and are still pretty desperate.

Baylor

In a game they just had to have the Bears gutted out a win against Oklahoma State over the weekend.

That snapped a 5 game conference losing streak but this team still have to collect more quality wins is they want to find themselves in the tournament again. Baylor is one of the most frustrating teams in the nation because their talent is so obvious and they have depth too.

Last year they hammered the Jayhawks at home.

SG Brady Heslip is a one dimensional player but he was able to squirt lose for 6 threes against OSU. Everyone knows he is a great shooter and I wouldn’t expect him to be able to get off like that against Kansas.

That means more pressure on top dogs PF Corey Jefferson and C Isaiah Austin. Whichever one is not being guarded by Joel Embiid will be the matchup for Baylor to exploit, though they will both have to come up big for Baylor to win.

The Bears have been terrible against the spread this season. Before the upset win on Saturday they had covered in just one B12 game…but they could be a dangerous home dog.

Throw in a little desperation and revenge from a 10 point loss up in Lawrence and I think we should have a very good game Tuesday night.

Spread Pick: Baylor +3.5
O/U Pick: N/A
Score Prediction: Baylor 74 – Kansas 71
