After being a preseason top 5 team and a favorite to get back to the Final Dour, the Huskies have dropped three straight and into 8th place in the division with an overall record of 14-6.

Freshman Ryan Boatright who returned from ineligibility issues to play in a 50-48 upset loss to Notre Dame on Saturday, is set to start this one as well, but unlike last season there is Boatright is no Kemba Walker who could bail the Huskies out.

Points leader Lamb however, has done a good job filling the huge void left by Walker, but is still struggling to really step up and get the respect needed to lead his squad.

Nevertheless, he led the losing effort for the Huskies against the Irish with 16 points on 66 percent shooting in 38 minutes while Andre Drummond contributed a game-leading 11 rebounds.

Three-pointers were a crushing factor, with 21 points of the Notre Dame total coming from three-point range to nine for Connecticut. The area where Connecticut really struggled was points, with only 48 for this game against a season average of 69.8.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

As for the Hoyas got surprised over the weekend losing at Pittsburgh on Saturday,72-60.
Georgetown let this one slip away while being overpowered by the Panthers in rebounding and free throw shooting.

Otto Porter led the way in scoring for the Hoyas with 14 points in 30 minutes, who have struggled over the past few games in team scoring.

G-town scored just 50 points against Rutgers a few weeks ago in a game where they had fewer shots than turnovers.

Free Pick: Georgetown– In order win this one the Hoyas will need their stars to be stars, staring with Jason Clark who will need to pick it up against a very good UConn defense. I like the home team here. UConn has too many problems, with maybe its best win being South Florida or Notre Dame.

They have not gone on the road and beaten a team like Georgetown, and I don’t think this will be the first week they do it.
