As an under the radar mid major, Kent has started off the season with an 8-3 mark.

Kent State

While Kent State can build off an 8-3 start to their season, their biggest win thus far has been their victory over North Dakota State. The weak schedule has given the Golden Flashes an edge as far as wins and losses are concerned, but losses to their toughest competition, like Yale and UTEP, doesn’t bold well for Kent State when it comes to big games.

Kent State is led by sophomore Jimmy Hall. Hall is averaging 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds in the Golden Flashes first 11 games. Hall played perhaps his best game of the 2014-2015 season last time out in a 78-75 loss to UTEP. Hall recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Helping out Forward Jimmy Hall in the scoring department is senior guard Devareaux Manley. Manley is scoring 11.7 points a game, including a 24 point outburst against North Carolina A&T on December 19th.

Kent State comes in with a 3-1 road record and 3-1 ATS in those contests.

Kansas

The Jayhawks have shown signs of brilliance so far this season. They’ve also shown signs of disarray and inconsistency. Last time the Jayhawks were on the court, they were smacked around by Temple 77-52. It was the worst showing thus far for Kansas, who was outscored 42-27 in the 2nd half of the contest.

While Kansas has stumbled twice so far, they’re beginning to build a solid resume already for the NCAA tournament. They’ve knocked off the likes of Michigan State, Georgetown, and Utah so far. Along with the Temple loss, they’re only other loss came to the hands of the #1 Kentucky Wildcats.

Led by junior forward Perry Ellis, the Kansas offense is scoring 70.2 points a game (139th). The overall ranking of 139th in scoring is a bit misled due to the strength of schedule Kansas has played. Ellis is averaging 12.5 points a game to go along with 6.3 rebounds.

Inside Allen Fieldhouse Kansas is 4-0 S.U. They’re scoring 80.8 games while just surrendering 63.2 points against.

Kansas will be licking their chops to get back on the court following their embarrassing loss last time out to Temple. That being said, Kent State is no pushover.
