A win here is one that could be valuable if they are on the bubble.

Tennessee

There were some big changes for Tennessee this offseason. They lost their best two bigs (understatement) and brought in a new coach after a better than expected season overall.

As a result expectations were fairly low and thus far they have done little to disprove that notion. The whole SEC (other than Kentucky) has been pretty lame so far and Tennessee has played its part.

Things may be starting to turn though as they beat Butler on their home floor on Sunday. This is their first road game.

The only player of significance from last season is wing Josh Richardson.

I have always liked his slippery game and with some extra room to operate he has upped his production, in fact it would surprise if he is among the leading scorers in the SEC this season.

Inside this team just doesn’t have the beef they have had the last couple of seasons.

They used to own the boards and now they will get eaten up when they play the big boys.

NC State

The Wolfpack are looking for a quick rebound after a surprise home loss to Wofford.

The Terriers are a quality program that will likely win their league but NC State should not be losing games where they are 10 point favourites at home.

This team has a brand new backcourt this season but it looks like they are sorely missing the ability to score when needed that T.J. Warren provided last year.

The need to right the ship because they have some challenging games before ACC play starts.

That new backcourt is composed of transfers Trevor Lacey and Ralston Turner.

They are the top two scorers on the team and this game won’t expose the fact that the Wolfpack do not get much offensive production from the post.

Lennard Freeman is not a scorer but he is collect 8 boards a game in only 22 minutes of action.

They do not need to get a lot from their bigs but they do need them to be more efficient.

NCAAB Handicapping Trends:

  • TENN are 1-5-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
  • NCST are 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11 Wed. games.
  • Over is 8-2 in NCST last 10 home games.
  • Under is 6-2 in NCST last 8 Wed. games.

NCAAB Prediction:  Tennessee +5.5

This will be a tight game but I like taking a shot with the underdog Vols.

4* NCAAB Score prediction:  Tennessee 67 – NC State 66

You will get some extra value and unlike NCSU they should be coming into this one with confidence.
