NCAAB: Bulldogs vs Broncos Predictions

College basketball betting action sees the Gonzaga Bulldogs  taking on the Santa Clara Broncos on Thursday February 5 at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, California.  Cappers Picks provides free NCAAB handicapping tips all season long.

It doesn’t look very likely that Gonzaga is going to drop any WCC games this year.

But if they do it will for surely be on the road when you least expect.

Gonzaga

There are a bunch to compare them too but this might be the best Gonzaga team yet.

People can scoff at the league they play in but they have been dominating all season long with their only loss coming to Arizona – they have earned that #2 next to their name.

The true measure will come when we see how this team does in the Big Dance but with so many key cogs chasing a final taste of glory I have a strong feeling they can have a nice run.

Don’t underestimate these guys.

Not only is this a talented team but it is a true team I think. It can be hard to integrate high impact transfers and fabulous frosh with established players but that it what they have done.

Still this is Kevin Pangos’ team and it is hard to find a better leader in America (FYI he is Canadian).

He has sacrificed some offense for the good of the team but nobody plays more minutes or has the ball more in crunch time.

Santa Clara

The Broncos are in the middle of the WCC this season and come into this one hoping for a better showing against the Zags in front of their own fans.

When these two met in Spokane Gonzaga won by 22 points in a game that was over by halftime.

I suppose the showing was better than expected as the Broncos covered as 24 point dogs.

This is a streaky team. After winning 4 straight conference games they have dropped their last two, both on the road. In WCC play they have only one home loss.

Santa Clara guard Brandon Clark is leading the team in scoring at 16ppg but he is having a terrible year shooting the ball.

The senior is shooting just 35% from the field so you can make the argument that letting him shoot is a pretty good strategy.

His backcourt running mate Jared Brownridge is second on the team in scoring.

His numbers are down from a very promising freshman season. There is potential there.

NCAAB Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 18-8 in GONZ last 26 Thu. games.
  • Over is 9-4 in GONZ last 13 overall.
  • Under is 46-21-1 in GONZ last 68 vs. West Coast.
  • Under is 8-2 in SCU last 10 home games.
  • SCU are 17-35 ATS in their last 52 home games.
  • Over is 21-8 in the last 29 meetings.
  • Over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Santa Clara.

4* NCAAB Prediction:  Santa Clara +17

Now don’t be confused into thinking that the Broncos are going to give the Zags a game.

NCAAB Score prediction:  Gonzaga 80 – Santa Clara 64

I see this as more of a backdoor opportunity. Santa Clara will want to save some face here.
