N.C. Central Eagles vs. Iowa St. Cyclones Gambling & NCAA Handicapping Prediction

NCAA Tournament – Eagles vs Cyclones Pick

When the Cyclones are at their best they are an exciting offensive team that can score with anybody on the country. They have a versatile lineup but at the same time they lack real size and that can be exploited. [ad-4468020]

Iowa State

This group had success in last year’s tournament and should not be discounted even though their second half was not as strong as their start. Coming from the B12 they should represent the league well and are just getting started.

Iowa State features Melvin Ejim, the B12 player of the year. Who knows what kind of pro he will be but as a collegian it is hard to ask for more. He scores and rebounds very well and doesn’t force it like some other top players do. As important as he is DeAndre Kane might be even more important, especially at this stage.

Kane is an experienced point guard who can score and with his size presents matchup problems.

Iowa State is going to try and blitz the Eagles and they have the team to do it. This is a good matchup for them because of the way N.C. Central is constructed and if they got off to a hot start this could be over by halftime.

The Eagles will try and slow the pace but ISU’s shot making ability will be too much.

N.C. Central

These Eagles enter the tournament with one of the longest winning streaks in the country – 20 games. They will be looking to once again represent the MEAC well, like Norfolk State did a couple of years back when they knocked off another B12 heavyweight, then second seeded Mizzou.

The odds of that happening are not great but they are going to play this one anyway.

It should be entertaining despite the potential for an ugly result.

The biggest threat on the Eagles is guard Jeramy Ingram who averages just over 20ppg.

The challenge for N.C. Central will be finding some additional offense as no one else on the team scores even half as much. Outscoring the Cyclones is difficult to do with just one real threat. This is a good matchup for the Eagles though because Iowa State as good as they are does not have a lot of size.

The Eagles have amazing defensive statistics. Those are certainly influenced by the calibre of competition but it also has to be in part due to system and commitment.

If they can make the Cyclones uncomfortable maybe this is closer than we think.

When they have gone against higher levell competition they have struggled defensively.

Spread prediction: Iowa State -8
