Davidson Wildcats vs. Marquette Golden Eagles Preview

The Golden Eagles are one of a slew of Big East teams in the Big Dance and they will be facing a Davidson team that was 0-2 facing ranked teams this season. NCAAB lines have Marquette as 3-point favorites in this game with a total of 133.

In their last games Davidson beat Charleston 74-55 in the Southern Conference final and Marquette lost to Notre Dame in the opening round of the Big East tournament.

On the season Davidson is 16-15-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 9-16-1 and Marquette is 13-14 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 15-11.

Obviously Marquette played a much tougher schedule on the season, but Davidson comes into the Big Dance red-hot winning their last 17 games of the season.

Davidson is led by FW Jake Cohen (14.8 ppg) and FW De’Mon Brooks (13.8 ppg 6.2 rpg) and the Wildcats are led by their frontcourt, as these 2 guys are the leading scorers and rebounders of the team. [ad-6571516]

The Wildcats do not have 1 guard that is averaging in double figures, but it is key that guards Nik Cochran (9.8 ppg) and Chris Czerapowicz (9.2 pg) shoot the rock well to open up the lane for their frontcourt scorers.

The Golden Eagles have a well-balanced team led by G Vander Blue (14.3 ppg) and FW Davante Gardner (11.5 ppg 4.9 rpg), who leads the team in rebounding. Marquette is in the Big East and they won this season because they could bang on the boards and play good D and if they can do that in this game they should easily win.

The Wildcats are no strangers to the Big Dance, as this season they won the Southern Conference for the 2nd straight season, but they have not beaten a team from a major conference in a few years.

In some betting trends for this NCAA tournament game Davidson is 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 non-conference games 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 9-4-1 in their last 14 games.

Marquette is 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 non-conference games and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Jason’s Pick: Would love to pick a Cinderella here, but no dice, as Marquette will easily win this game and cover the spread.
