Team records:
Wake Forest: 18-5 SU, 12-8 ATS
Virginia Tech: 20-4 SU, 10-7-1 ATS

The Virginia Tech Hokies will host the No. 23 Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC battle on Tuesday at the Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The last times these two teams met the Hokies upset then-No 1 Wake Forest 78-71 on Jan 21, 2009.

The Demon Deacons have won their last four games including a 75-64 final over a struggling Georgia Tech on Saturday. It was a satisfying win considering the fact that the Yellow Jackets pounded Wake forest by 21 points just three weeks ago. Al-Farouq Aminu had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Ishmael Smith had 10 points, eight assists – to add to his 140 on the season, and six rebounds in the win. Wake Forest played tremendous team defense, limiting the Yellow Jackets to 34.5 percent shooting from the floor. Aminu leads the Deacons with 16.5 points, and 10.9 rebounds per game, while recording 36 blocks and 35 steals thus far in the season.

Wake Forest is outrebounding opponents by 5.2 rpg and is generating 75.3 ppg while holding opponents to 67.6 ppg.

Just like Wake Forest, Virginia Tech has won four in a row after posting a 61-55 victory over rival Virginia on Saturday. Dorenzo Hudson scored 15 points, while Malcolm Delaney and Jeff Allen pitched in 13 points apiece in the win. The Hokies played solid defense, holding the Cavaliers to 32.8 percent shooting from the field. Delany leads his team posting 19.7 points per game followed by Hudson with 13.8 and Allen adding 11.6 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

The Hokies are averaging 72.0 ppg through 24 contests, and they are holding opponents to 61.1 ppg on 38.9 percent field goal efficiency.

Both of these teams are hot right now especially on the defensive end of the court.

I suspect Tech to hold a slight advantage playing at home where they are a perfect 14-0 this season.

This is a big game in the ACC as Wake Forest is making a bit of a run lately and Virginia Tech needs some quality wins heading into the final few weeks of the regular season.
