The No. 21 Vanderbilt Commodores will look to derail the current No.1 Kentucky Wildcats perfect at-home-season record when they visit their Southeastern rival at the Rupp Arena on Saturday evening in Lexington, Kentucky.

The last time these two met was on Feb 17, 2009, with the Commodores routing the Wildcats 77-64. Vanderbilt has won six of the last eight games against Kentucky, including back-to-back wins in Rupp Arena in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

Vandy is on a roll beating No. 14 Tennessee 85-76 on Wednesday night. Lone senior guard Jermaine Beal scored 25 points lifting the Commodores to their tenth straight and first win over a ranked opponent this season. Both teams committed 23 fouls as Vandy converted 21 of their 29 attempts from the charity stripe. The Commodores shot a solid 50.9 percent from the floor, the 11th time this season they have hit more than half their shots. Six-foot-eleven center A.J. Ogilvy is a key component in Vandy’s success and is rapidly becoming one of the best interior players in the conference. He is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Ogilvy owns a team-high 32 blocks and is shooting 53.8 percent from the field.

The Wildcats moved atop the rankings this week for the first time since 2003, despite dropping their first game of the season to South Carolina 68-62 on Tuesday night. Freshman big man DeMarcus Cousins matched his career best of 27 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Freshman standout and top scorer John Wall finished the contest with 19. The 62 points were a season low for Kentucky who had been averaging 82 points per game. Defense has been a hallmark for the Wildcats, as well as its overpowering offense. Kentucky held South Carolina to a meager 34.4 percent shooting; the fourteenth time in 20 games they have held an opponent to less than 40 percent.

Vanderbilt won at South Carolina by 10 points on Jan. 16 and is a balanced team. Kentucky has a lot of weapons and will be gunning hard to get back on track.

Vanderbilt vs Kentucky Odds

The odds makers have the Wildcats as -10-point favorites in this one.

Free Commodores vs. Wildcats CBB Pick

I expect the Wildcats to regroup in a hurry from their devastating loss early this week, beating Vandy by 6-points.

This could be the best match up of the day as Kentucky is coming off their first loss of the season and Vanderbilt is playing their best ball of the season. I think the Wildcats find a way to win this game, but I love the Commodoers +10
