Elon Phoenix vs. Duke Blue Devils Preview

On the season Elon is 4-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 1-0 and Duke is 6-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 4-2.

This season Duke is 4-0 at home and Elon is 1-2 on the road.

In their last games Duke beat Wisconsin 80-70 and Elon lost to Missouri 78-73.

Duke has not played since December 3rd when they took down, then, 2nd ranked Wisconsin and they are HUGE home favorites facing Elon tonight. The Phoenix have a tall order tonight facing a Duke team that has won 38 straight games and in their house have not lost to a non-conference foe in 114 games.

The Phoenix D will be tested tonight facing a Duke squad that ranks 2nd in the nation in both points per game and team FG%.

Elon is 0-20 all time facing top 25 teams. They are getting 32 points tonight, which is obviously a lot, but they are 0-3 all time facing Duke losing by an average of 38.7 ppg. These team met last December and Duke crushed Elon 86-48.

While the deck is stacked against the Phoenix they did have a pretty soli dgame in the loss at Missouri where they almost came back from a 19-point halftime deficit.

The Phoenix will have to deal with Duke’s 3 freshman averaging in double figures in Jahlil Okafor at (17.1) ppg, who is 2nd in the ACC with a 64.6 shooting percentage,  Justise Winslow (12.0 ppg) and Tyus Jones (10.5 ppg). The Blue Devils are a young and staked team and it helps that they have senior leadership at the PG position in Quinn Cook (15.3 ppg).

The Phoenix have 3 players averaging in double figures led by Luke Eddy, who came off the bench to score 27 points in the loss to Missouri.

[dfads params=’groups=64759&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Elon only shot 35.8% in the loss to Missouri and they have to shoot the rock better tonight, They play solid perimeter D leading their conference in 3-pt defense, but in order to not get blown out they will have to slow the pace of the game and shoot a high FG%.

NCAAB Betting Trends

* Elon is 7-0 ATS in their last 7 road games.
* Elon is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
* Duke is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win.
* Duke is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games.

4* Cappers NCAAB Free Pick

Elon has played 2 teams from major conferences this season and while they lost both each was close and the Phoenix covered the spread in both.

They will not win tonight by a long shot, but Duke will not play their starters the whole game and the Blue Devils will easily win, but the Phoenix will cover on the road again.
