Team records:
Virginia: 14-8 SU, 9-7-1 ATS
Maryland: 16-7 SU, 11-8 ATS

The Maryland Terrapins will host the Virginia Cavaliers in an ACC battle on Monday night at the Comcast Center in College Park, Maryland. This contest was originally supposed to be played last Wednesday, but inclement weather forced the postponement.

The Cavaliers knocked off the Terps 68-63 in their previous meeting at Charlottesville back on Mar 7, 2009, in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Terps own a 103-67 series lead over the Cavaliers. Mike Scott
Virginia fell to rival Virginia Tech on Saturday by a score of 61-55, but they are still 14-8 overall and 5-4 in ACC action. Junior forward Mike Scott netted 20 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. Scott is averaging 13.4 ppg, and he leads the Cavs in rebounds with 7.7 per game. Leading scorer Sylven Landesberg, who is averaging 18 points per contest, contributed 17 points against the Hokies. The Cavs connected on only 32.8 percent of their field goal attempts, including a 3-of-18 effort from three-point range. Virginia is generating 68.9 ppg while allowing 61.0 ppg to opponents on 42.3 percent shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, the Terps saw their modest two-game win streak come to an abrupt end as they were routed at No. 8 Duke, 77-56 on Saturday. Leading scorer, point guard Greivis Vasquez who is averaging 18.0 ppg to go along with his 142 assists, recovered from a poor start and posted a team-high 17 points in the loss. Cliff Tucker added 12 points. The Terps shot just 37.7 percent from the floor, including 2-of-13 from three-point range. They were outrebounded by seven boards and outscored 18-8 from the foul line.

Despite the thumping by Duke, Maryland is producing 79.1 ppg while allowing just 65.5 ppg on a stingy 37.3 percent shooting by its opponents.

They are 16-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play, while boasting an 11-1 home record entering tonight’s contest.
