Team records:

Penn State: 11-18 SU, 13-13-1 ATS

The Penn State Nittany Lions will look to spoil the No. 17 Purdue Boilermakers hopes of sharing the Big 10 Conference regular-season championship with Ohio State when the two tip off at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The Boilermakers shredded the Lions 66-46 the last time the two teams met on Jan 31 in West Lafayette.

Purdue, the Big Ten tournament reigning champions, is on fire having won 11 of their last 12 including a 74-55 romp over in-state rival Indiana on Wednesday. Junior guard E’Twaun Moore scored a game-best 21 points, and senior guard Chris Kramer added a season-high 18, while center JaJuan Johnson added 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in the win. The Boilermakers suffered a serious blow when junior forward Robbie Hummel was lost for the season on Feb. 24 with a torn ACL, leaving some to question if Purdue could maintain there charge down the stretch.

The Boilermakers lost to PSU 67-64 in the Jordan Center without Hummel last season.

Meanwhile, the Lions showed they could hang tough with some of the nation’s best teams before falling 67-65 to No. 11 Michigan State. Talor Battle, the team’s only player who consistently averages in double figures, led four other Nittany Lions in double figures with 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists, while Chris Babb also had 16, Jeff Brooks had 13 and David Jackson had 12 in the loss. Six of the Nittany Lions’ 14 conference losses have been by six points or less.

PSU will need to not only shut down Purdue’s E’Twaun Moore, but will need a fierce interior presence if they’re going to contain JaJuan Johnson and make any noise in this one.

Purdue vs. PSU Odds

The odds makers have the Boilermakers as –5-point favorites in this one.
