Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Miami Hurricanes Preview

Tonight in an ACC match up in the Sunshine State between a couple of teams that really need a win the Miami Hurricanes (12-9) host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (10-10). NCAAB lines have Miami as 6-point favorites in this game with a total of 140.

In their last games both teams played on Sunday with the Yellow Jackets losing to the Maryland Terrapins 74-63 and the Hurricanes losing to the Virginia Tech Hokies 72-68.

Before beginning ACC play the Hurricanes looked like a legit NCAA tourney team, but they are only 1-6 in conference play and they have lost their last 4 games in a row. Tech is 3-4 in ACC play and they have lost 2 of their last 3 games.

This season Miami is 9-7 ATS and Georgia Tech is 7-8 ATS. The Yellow Jackets are only 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games against Miami.

Miami has had some tough games lately, as in their 4-game losing streak they have lost by a grand total of 11 points.

For Tech to pull off the upset tonight they will need a good game from their big gun of G Iman Shumpert, who leads the team in scoring (16. 6 ppg), rebounds (5.9 rpg), and assists (3.8 assists per game). He will need help in the scoring department from Glen Rice Jr. (12.6 ppg).

Miami is led by the backcourt duo of Malcolm Grant (15.7 ppg) and Durand Scott (14.2 ppg) and the Yellow Jackets have to keep these guys from bombing away from deep, as each of these guys is hitting on over 40% of their 3-pointers.

Neither team is great on the boards, but the team that can win the battle of the glass will have the upper hand in this game. Tech has to especially worry about Miami C Reggie Johnson (11.9 ppg 10 rpg) and if he scores easy buckets in the paint and pulls down a ton of rebounds the Hurricanes should easily win.

Miami will get back on track tonight, as their guards will play well and Johnson will dominate the paint. The Hurricanes will snap their 4-game SEC losing streak with a win tonight and they will also cover the 6-point spread.

Betting Trends

Miami is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games and Georgia Tech is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games against teams with a winning home record.

Pick: Miami -6
