Illinois has won five of seven at home against Michigan State and will attempt to gain ground on their visiting Big Ten rival when they tip off on Tuesday night.

Currently the No. 22 Fighting Illini are in 4th place and will return home after a pair of tough road losses seeking a 10th straight home victory and a tie with the 2nd place  No. 18 Spartans in the conference standings.

Michigan Sate will be no rollover and seem to have turned a corner since the start of Big Ten play winning back-to-back overtime home games, throwing them into a second place tie in the Big Ten with No. 14 Purdue while trailing No. 1 Ohio State by one game.

Meanwhile, Illinois, despite its recent defeats, leads the Big Ten in 3-point shooting at 42.5 percent and may be able to find solace in the fact that they edged out the Spartans in their last meeting 78-73 in Champaign — a game that saw Michigan State turn the rock over 18 times.

Offensively, Illinois is averaging 75.4 points per game as they shoot 47.9 percent from the floor while grabbing 35.6 offensive rebounds per game. Demetri McCamey is averaging 16.2 points and 7.0 assists, Mike Davis averages 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds, Mike Tisdale is averaging 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds, and D.J. Richardson is averaging 10.4 points per game. Defensively Illinois is allowing 65.7 points per game as the opposition shoots 40 percent against them.

Finally, the Spartans are averaging 73.1 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the floor while being one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the nation. Kalin Lucas is averaging 14.7 points per game, Durrell Summers is averaging 14.2 points, and Draymond Green is averaging 12.8 points and 8.9 rebounds. Defensively, the opposition is netting just 65.6 points per game and shooting 39.6 percent from the floor.

MSU is 2-2 on the road and 3-3 against teams ranked in the top 25.

This should be a good one and look for both teams to be very efficient as they move the ball to the hoop with the hotter Spartans taking away a close win here.

Betting Trends:
