Now that NFL betting lines don’t need to be worried about, players should settle in for Rivalry Week in the NCAA, and there is no bigger rivalry in the country than Duke-North Carolina. The two age-old rivals will clash at Duke on Wednesday, and with both teams playing well, anything can happen.

The Tar Heels (17-5, 7-1) thumped Florida State 89-69 at home for their fifth straight win, and freshman Kendall Marshall played a season-high 36 minutes after Larry Drew II abruptly left the team. Marshall stepped up with nine points and 16 assists, while highly-touted freshman Harrison Barnes had another good game with 17 points and 10 boards. The Tar Heels shot a blistering 55.7% from the field and outrebounded the Seminoles 36-27, and some wagering players may get a sports betting bonus if North Carolina continues to improve. The Tar Heels stumbled under high expectations to start the season, but they’re playing relaxed now, and that’s a major key as they head into Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils (21-2, 8-1) raced out to a 29-point lead by halftime before cruising to a 76-52 win over North Carolina State at home, holding the Wolfpack to 39.6% from the floor, while snatching 11 more rebounds than their opposition. Nolan Smith had a great all-around game with 20 points, seven assists and six boards, while Mason Plumlee added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils, who happened to be terrible from the foul line, hitting just 17 of their 32 opportunities. This is a rarity for Duke, who usually shoots around 75% from the line, but they can’t afford to have many more nights like that at the charity stripe.

The Blue Devils should be the NCAA basketball betting favorites in your pay per head sportsbook at home, and last year’s 82-50 trouncing was the first win for Duke over North Carolina at Cameron in five years, which was basically the time that Tyler Hansbrough played for the Tar Heels. North Carolina has to find a way to slow down Smith, who has been the best player in the ACC so far this season, and the backcourt are going to have their hands full. Both teams are loaded with depth and talent up front, while the best matchup may come between a couple of preseason All-Americans in Barnes and Duke’s Kyle Singler. This is a huge game in terms of momentum for the Tar Heels, who have nothing to lose, and even a tight loss would be good after getting blown out there last year. We would bet on Duke in an SU bet, but watch the spread as this will be a close game for those who are sports betting online.

Poolside Rants hails from beautiful Bozeman Montana by way of Toronto, Canada. (Blame his wife for the move). He’s a Dallas Cowboys football honk. But please….don’t hold that against him. The man knows his sports and has uncanny knowledge when it comes to picking games.
