NCAA basketball betting players have been watching Tennessee go through a wild season complete with injuries and a suspension to their head coach. The Volunteers need a couple more statement wins to pad their resume for the NCAA Tournament, and they’ll get a chance on Saturday when they head to Gainesville to face Florida.

The Volunteers (15-9, 5-4) dropped their second straight, and first with Bruce Pearl back on the bench, with a 73-61 loss at Kentucky. Melvin Goins led the way with 16 points, while Josh Bone came off the bench with 13 points for the Volunteers, who shot only 40.7% from the field and they were beaten badly at the foul line, going 8-of-12 while the Wildcats were 22-of-27. Tennessee got their leader back as Scotty Hopson returned from an ankle injury, but he was definitely rusty, scoring 11 points in 24 minutes. Teams at the NHL trade deadline will be looking for leaders, and Hopson is definitely the guy that players look to at Tennessee; he’ll be crucial in their chances at Gainesville.

The Gators (19-5, 8-2) have garnered some steam as they’ve won three in a row after a 79-60 romp at South Carolina. Florida raced out to an 11-point halftime lead and never looked back as they shot 55.4% from the floor, powered by 25 points from Irving Walker.

Chandler Parsons had a great all-around game with 14 points, 12 boards and eight assists for the Gators, who had 16 turnovers but forced 18 out of the Gamecocks. Florida has been inconsistent all season, but they look like they’re getting things in order as we head into the most important part of the year.

The intensity inside the O’Dome will be well worth the price per head for those paying to watch this huge SEC encounter, in which the Gators should be favored at home. The Volunteers are actually 3-2 SU and ATS in Florida, and they have a knack for coming up with wins when they really need it, and the last game at Kentucky was always going to be tough as they had their two leaders, Pearl and Hopson, back in the lineup. Florida has been playing very well as of late, but we’re still skeptical on how they fare in big games, and they always seem to have problems with Hopson.

The Volunteers also need a big game from freshman forward Tobias Harris, who will probably be the most talented player on the court. If Tennessee loses this game, they’re in serious trouble of missing the Tournament, and that’s the last thing they need. We think they’ll pull up their socks, so go with Tennessee for the sports betting upset.
