March Madness betting players have heard that the ACC is in a down year, and while it may not be the Big East, the ACC definitely has a few teams that could make some noise in the NCAA Tournament.

A top-three clash will take place on Wednesday in Tallahassee, where Florida State can essentially punch their ticket to the Big Dance with a win over streaking North Carolina, who are trying to keep pace with Duke atop the ACC standings ahead of this weekend’s showdown with the Blue Devils.

The Tar Heels (22-6, 12-2) won their fifth in a row with an 87-76 win over Maryland at home, and again, North Carolina was lifted by their post players. Tyler Zeller poured in 25 points, while John Henson was a monster with 10 points, 15 boards and seven swats for the Tar Heels, who also got 21 points from Harrison Barnes.

At the trade deadline NHL teams may be looking to add size, and that has been the main reason for North Carolina’s success as the Zeller/Henson duo has carried the Tar Heels to the top of the ACC, and a win on Wednesday will clinch a No.2 seed in the ACC, which means a first-round bye in the conference tournament.

The Seminoles (20-8, 10-4) jumped out to a 20-point lead at halftime, and held off a furious Miami rally for a 65-59 win over the Hurricanes at home, getting 17 points apiece from Okaro White and Deividas Dulkys. It was a sloppy affair as the Seminoles had 17 of the game’s 33 turnovers, and they only shot 44.9% from the field, but they held the Hurricanes to 31.7%.

Still, they miss the veteran leadership of Chris Singleton, who hasn’t been ruled out for the ACC tournament because of foot surgery.

Betting services will likely favor the Tar Heels as a slight college basketball betting favorite on the road as they’re 4-1 SU in their last five trips to Tallahassee, posting a 3-2 ATS mark as well. The Tar Heels won the first meeting of the season in an 89-69 thrashing in Chapel Hill on February 6th, and the Seminoles had no answer for freshman guard Kendall Marshall, who controlled the game with 16 assists.

The Seminoles also had Singleton in the lineup, and the FSU big men need to step up in the paint to deal with Henson and Zeller, who combined for 30 points and 14 boards in the first meeting. The Tar Heels may be looking ahead to Saturday’s visit from Duke, while Florida State are likely into the NCAA Tournament, but they know a win over North Carolina would clinch it.

We’re not going to bet against the spread in this game as it will be too close, but you should take the Tar Heels to eke it out SU in your sports book.
