Week 5 NBA Wagering Review

With another week of NBA basketball now a thing of the past – and the 2008-09 NBA regular season moving into its sixth week it is time to take a look back…

NBA Weekly Review – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Four weeks into the 2008-09 NBA regular season in the BetUS Sportsbook and things are heating up in both conferences as teams across the league that have made roster-altering changes, begin to find their respective new identities.

Here then, is a look back at the week that was in the NBA while taking a brief look ahead as what lies ahead for BetUS NBA sports betting buffs as the fifth week of NBA hoops gets set to begin.

Eastern Conference

The Boston Celtics are absolutely on fire, having won eight straight games in the BetUS Sportsbook, including a spotless 3-0 mark since last Monday’s NBA Weekly Review column. The C’s face the Indiana Pacers twice this coming week while also hosting Orlando and Portland.

The New Jersey Nets have won three straight games after beginning the week with a 120-93 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and look like they have three more winnable games this week, beginning with Tuesday’s home matchup against Washington. With dates against Washington, Minnesota and Philadelphia, the surprising Nets looks to be sitting pretty at the moment.

The Philadelphia 76ers dropped four straight games this past week and could be looking at another loss when they hit the road to face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday on the back end of a home-and-home matchup between the clubs. Additionally, the Sixers will take on the Lakers, Pistons and Nets before the end of the week.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won five straight games, including four this past week and have home contests this week against New York and Indiana before visiting Charlotte on Saturday.

The Milwaukee Bucks have dropped four consecutive games this past week, failing to cover the spread each time in the BetUS Sportsbook and have home dates this week against Chicago and Charlotte before facing the Lakers on the road on Sunday.

The Orlando Magic have won four straight games while covering the spread in each of their last three contests. The Magic will face the Celtics, Timberwolves and Thunder this week.

Western Conference

The Portland Trailblazers have won seven straight games, including four this past week while covering the spread in three straight for BetUS NBA sports betting enthusiasts.

The ‘new-look’ Denver Nuggets won three of four and two straight heading into this week, while covering the spread in each victory.

The Los Angeles Lakers remained red-hot, winning three times last week and covering the spread in each game. With three road matchups this week against Indiana, Philadelphia and Washington, followed by a Sunday home contest against Milwaukee, I wouldn’t expect L.A.’s winning streak to come to a halt any time soon.

The Golden State Warriors and Sacrament Kings are each riding six-game losing streaks in the BetUS Sportsbook. Golden State has three tough games this coming week against Miami, Houston and San Antonio while Sacramento has two tough road contests this week against Utah and Denver.

The Memphis Grizzlies are also riding a six-game losing streak and look like they could lose at least two of three this week as they hit the road to take on the Atlanta Hawks before hosting the Clippers and Hornets.
