The Golden State Warriors are the Milwaukee Bucks of the Western Conference. You hear from them every now and then, but for the most part they play their games in relative obscurity.

Rarely on national television. Out of sight, out of mind. If they ceased to exist, few outside of the bay area would shed even one tear.

Sitting at 32-42, the Warriors were eliminated from the playoff scene a few days ago even though victories over cripples Toronto and Washington were able to put an end to a 6-game losing streak in which Golden State was able to cover the spread exactly zero times. Now the Warriors are patting themselves on the back for refusing to give up, and are talking about a possible 4-4 close-out that would enable them to finish with 10 more wins than they had when they went 26-56 a year ago.

When the Warriors drafted Stephen Curry a few years back, Monte Ellis flat-out questioned whether a pair of 2-guards could thrive in the same backcourt. The same questions can be asked today. Ellis, who tends to beef up his stats against weak teams, averages 24.3 points a game and Curry is at 18.2 in a guard-oriented, speed offense.

The Warriors get slaughtered off the boards on a nightly basis, and Keith Smart will have to figure out a way to tighten up the team’s defense if he wants to coach beyond next year.

NBA Trends:

GS are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
GS are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NBA Northwest.
Under is 10-4 in GS last 14 vs. NBA Northwest.
Under is 8-1 in OKC last 9 overall.
OKC are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Over is 16-5-1 in OKC last 22 Tue. games.
Road team is 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings.

BEST BET: Oklahoma City is pretty much locked into the No. 4 playoff seed in the Western Conference, and needs only to break even down the stretch to hold off Denver and get home-court edge in a 4-5 playoff matchup with the Nuggets.

The sooner the Thunder can do that, the more they can rest their starters in the final week of the season.

Liking OKC to cover 10 tonight, with another play on the over.
