ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Toronto Raptors bring one of the Eastern Conference’s best road records to Salt Lake City with them. The Raptors are one of only three Eastern Conference teams with a road record above .500 (the Pacers and Heat are the others) and at 13-12 on the road will need to win on Monday to remain in that elite company.

The Raptors enter having won five of their last seven games but have only one win in their last seven trips to Utah. The team nearly gutted out a win against Portland on Saturday despite trailing by as many as 19 points thanks to a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter, even leading 103-102 inside the final 20 seconds of the game, but they couldn’t seal the deal and eventually fell by a score of 106-103.

All Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan led the Raptor with 36 points on 14 of 29 shooting, adding a career-high 12 assists, four rebounds, a block, and two late free throws down the stretch that gave Toronto a late one-point lead, but he also had a critical turnover in the closing seconds that cost the Raptors a chance at pulling off the upset.

DeRozan leads the Raptors with 22.0 points per game, and has been quite effective on the road of late, scoring an average of 27.5 points in his last six road contests. In his last three meetings with the Jazz, DeRozan is averaging 24.0 points per game.

Center Jonas Valanciunas has also begun to impose his will for the Raptors, averaging 16.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game over his last five contests, while All Star snub Kyle Lowry has 25.0 point while hitting on 16 of 36 three-point attempts over his last four games.

As for the Jazz, center Enes Kanter offered a rare bright spot to an otherwise dark season, chipping in 23 points and 14 rebounds in their last game against the Clippers with Derrick Favors and Jeremy Evans out. The team hopes to have one or both of those players back in the lineup on Monday.

The Raptors have regained their form after a rough patch, and while the travel to and from Portland has surely been gruelling for the team, these are the types of games that they need to win if they’re going to remain in the hunt for home court in the playoffs, so head coach Dwayne Casey will surely have his players ready.

The Raptors are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 games overall, and 20-7 ATS in their last 27 road games.

The play: Toronto -4.5
