NBA Betting – Spurs, Nuggets square off in Denver

While online betting Masters odds will be the hot play of the weekend, the NBA is heading into its last weekend of the season, and the Western Conference is a street fight with seven teams within 3.5 games of each other as of Friday. On Saturday night, San Antonio will head to Denver to face the Nuggets in what could be a first-round preview.

Spurs vs Nuggets odds – Saturday, April 10, 9:00 PM ET

The Spurs had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 112-101 loss in Phoenix on Wednesday night, and they were very sloppy with 18 turnovers on the night. Roger Mason came off the bench to lead the team with 18 points, while Richard Jefferson was next with 17 points, but they didn’t take advantage at the foul line, going 17-of-28, and that negated a 46-38 edge on the boards, including 20-12 on the offensive glass. Tony Parker had 10 points and five assists in second game back from a hand injury, and he’ll be essential to the Spurs’ NBA odds.

The Nuggets have now won four in a row, coming back from 13 points in the fourth quarter on Wednesday to win in Oklahoma City, and then they came back home on Thursday for a 98-96 win over the Los Angeles Lakers to slide ahead of Dallas into the No.2 spot. Carmelo Anthony had a game-high 31 points for the Nuggets, who hit 11 of their 25 three-point attempts. Denver was outrebounded 52-39, showing that they sadly miss Kenyon Martin, and they were only 19-of-28 from the foul line while the Lakers were 28-of-33, but the Nuggets held the Lakers to 36.6% from the field, and J.R. Smith provided a huge spark off the bench with 26 points.

The Nuggets should be favored in your sportsbook in this contest, but the Spurs have won two of their last three trips to Denver, including a 111-92 romp on February 11th.  The road team has won all three games in this season series, while all three game shave gone under the posted total. Everything is so close in the West that this game will have a big effect on the seedings, and we’re not sure that the Nuggets want anything to do with the Spurs in the first round. Manu Ginobili has been playing extremely well and just inked an extension, while Parker won’t take long to get back up to speed, and Tim Duncan is, well, Tim Duncan. The Nuggets have off-ice issues and injuries to worry about, and they have been fighting gamely, but they’ll come up short on Saturday.

Sportsbook odds should have the Lakers as the favorites at home as they are 32-5 at the Staples Center, and they’ve won four of their last five against the Jazz, who hasn’t won in Los Angeles against the Lakers since New Years Day, 2006, a span of 13 games.
