The New York Knicks have won despite a lackluster defense this season, but the “D” has been noticeably better over the last two games. Will it be enough to upset the Miami Heat on Tuesday?

Miami (23-9, 15-16-1 ATS) has won two straight games, both on the road, since having its 12-game winning streak snapped by Dallas. The Heat crushed the Lakers on Christmas Day, running away in a 96-80 blowout at the Staples Center. They’ve covered two straight games.

LeBron James led the assault against L.A., racking up his third triple-double of the season. James poured in 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the victory. He became the first player in Heat history with more than one triple-double in a single season, and it was the 31st of his career. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Dwyane Wade had an off night, scoring just 18 points on 6-17 shooting. Chris Bosh picked up the slack, finishing with 24 points and 13 boards. Shooting specialist Mike Miller should give Miami yet another boost; he’s finally back in the lineup after sitting out all year with a thumb injury. Miller has played only 25 minutes over the last three games, but the team says he’s ready for a boost in minutes. Expect that to happen against New York.

Still, at the end of the day, Miami once again rode defense to victory. Los Angeles shot just 40.5 percent from the field, and the Heat haven’t allowed an opponent to crack triple digits in scoring in 15 straight games.

New York (18-12, 20-9-1 ATS) has won back-to-back games to wipe out a three-game losing streak. The Knicks are 15-4 in their last 19 games after beating Chicago 103-95 on Saturday. New York has also covered its past two outings.

The Knicks have struggled on defense this season, but they’ve picked up their play in their past two outings, holding Oklahoma City and Chicago to 98 and 95 points, respectively. That’s a nice improvement from the season average of nearly 107 per game. New York held Chicago without a field goal for an 8:10 span during the fourth quarter.

New York’s offense has been just fine—Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton are playing out of their minds—so, with an improved defense, the team could be especially terrifying. Slowing the Bulls and Thunder is impressive, as both have plenty of star scorers. The Knicks have the weapons to keep this one tight. Take New York in an upset cover.
