After suffering a brutal loss to Boston and seeing their eight-game winning streak come to an end, the New York Knicks are probably wishing for a bit of a breather. They’re not going to get it, though, as the traveling circus known as the Miami Heat comes to town Friday.

After a massive surge, New York (16-10, 18-7-1 ATS) finally suffered a loss. The Knicks had ripped off eight consecutive victories, but the streak ended with a 118-116 loss to Boston on Wednesday. New York still covered, though, improving to 8-1 ATS in its last nine games—including three straight wins against the spread.

Wednesday’s loss to Boston was tough to swallow. Paul Pierce hit a step-back jumper with four-tenths of a second remaining to give Boston the lead. Amar’e Stoudemire responded with a three-pointer on the ensuing inbound but, after a video review, it was waved off; Stoudemire released the ball after the final buzzer.

Despite the loss, Stoudemire once again proved he was a worthy investment. The forward has scored at least 30 points in nine straight games after torching Boston for 39 points. Perhaps even more impressively, he recorded his eighth game with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds. Stoudemire had just eight games of 30/10 all of last year. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Miami (19-8, 12-14-1 ATS), meanwhile, has peeled off 10 consecutive victories. The latest victory came Wednesday, a 101-95 home win over Cleveland. While they failed to cover, the Heat remain a very impressive 7-1-1 ATS in their past nine games.

The Cleveland game notwithstanding, victories have been relatively easy to come by. The Heat had won nine straight games by double-digits entering Wednesday’s contest. The club just missed setting an NBA record by topping the Cavs by six.

Those double-digit romps are largely the product of fantastic defense. Miami hasn’t surrendered more than 95 points to an opponent during the current run; during that stretch, the team is allowing just 85 points per game.

Dwyane Wade is taking care of business at the other end of the floor. He recently earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors after averaging 30.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and shooting 58 percent from the field during a four-game stretch.

Despite losing to Boston, New York proved it is a legitimate contender. Still, it’s a risky proposition to bet against D-Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh right now. They’re playing like we expected them to from the outset—brilliantly. Moreover, James often saves his finest performances for Madison Square Garden. Expect the Heat to put on a show for the New York crowd and cover the spread.
