Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat Gambling Prediction & NBA Preview

Chicago vs Miami NBA Basketball Handicapping

The Chicago Bulls season is going to hinge on whether dynamic point guard Derrick Rose is back. He hasn’t played a game that matters in 18 months so all eyes this evening will be focused on him, hopefully he showcases the extra three inches he said he has gained on his vertical leap. [ad-4468020]

If he is healthy and without rust, the Bulls jump to the front of the line of contenders in the Eastern Conference behind Miami of course.

With so much attention on Rose it is easy to forget that it is his surrounding cast that also makes the Bulls such a formidable foe. For the opener pest Joakim Noah is questionable which is too bad because he is exactly the kind of player you don’t want to tangle with to start the season.

The Bulls have added some shooters to this club in the offseason in Mike Dunleavy and rookie Erik Murphy. Both are long and awkward but should open up things for Rose.

At present the number on this one has come down from Chicago +5. Of all the games on opening night this should have the most betting interest and the fact that it is coming down makes it seem like the early action is on Chicago. The lower it goes though you have to consider the home side. After all it is the opener and they are favourites for a reason.  [ad-6571516]

The Heat are looking to three-peat this season, an impressive feat but one that happens in the NBA with some regularity. It will be the same cast leading the way which is why they are on the odds on favourite. The talent is there to do it and I wouldn’t be against it but you have to wonder how much focus they will have during the regular season starting tonight.

The Heat are not the exact same team they were a year ago and I like the moves they have made. Greg Oden probably won’t play in the opener but I like the risk as they have consistently lacked a big body to protect the rim. I also approve of Michael Beasley, a talented problem child who can ease the scoring burden as part of the second unit.

On this team he is obviously not the man and that may make him easier to handle.

My original thought on this game was that the Bulls might catch the Heat off guard with their intensity thanks Derrick Rose and his urgency to get going.

However, the more I considered it and the more the number came down I think Miami is the way to go. Maybe wait right until game time though to get the best number.
