The New York Knicks were the hottest team in basketball just a few weeks ago, but they have turned south quickly over the last few games. They certainly have the talent to be playoff team, but they need to get back on the right track. Houston is struggling with multiple injuries once again this year.

The Rockets would have a dangerous team if everyone was healthy, but now they are left with a mediocre team. The Rockets have won two in a row, while the Knicks have lost three straight.

The Knicks have been one of the best at covering the spread in the entire NBA this season. Their slow start led to extremely low expectations, which they have easily been able to surpass. Now New York is hitting a rough patch and they must get things going back in the right direction. Amar’e Stoudemire has been everything the Knicks could have hoped for and even more.

Stoudemire is averaging 26.4 points per game, and he has been consistently great every single night. The lowest point output he has had in the last ten games was 22 points. The Knicks now have that scorer down low, which has opened up the outside game for them. Raymond Felton is doing a solid job at the point guard position as well. Felton is their second leading scorer at 17.7 per game, and he is also averaging nine assists.

The addition of these two players has really helped their teammates.

Wilson Chandler is a having a career year and Landry Fields is starring in his rookie season. The Knicks still need to improve on the defensive end, but they are a much better team than they were a year ago. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

The Houston Rockets had a franchise player in Yao Ming a few years ago, but his multiple injury problems have really held them back in the last couple years. Ming is out for the season again this year, and he isn’t the only significant injury the Rockets have had.

Starting point guard Aaron Brooks has been hurt a couple different times this year, and now Kyle Lowry is in the starting lineup. Chuck Hayes missed an extended amount of time, and now that he is healthy Brad Miller is injured and will miss a week or two. Rick Adelman’s team still has some scorers, but they don’t have the depth necessary to be one of the best in the league.

Kevin Martin has done a terrific job in his first year with the team. Martin is averaging 23.3 points per game, and he is shooting 41% from beyond the arc.

Martin is great at getting to the line as well, and since he shoots 88.4% that can really help his team. Luis Scola continues to improve as well, and he has become one of the better power forwards in the NBA. Houston is playing an uptempo style this year and they are scoring 105 points per game.

The Rockets have typically been a solid defensive team, but this year they are allowing opponents to shoot 47% from the floor.

Gambling Trends:

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of last 5 games when playing New York

The Pick:

The Knicks have been in a bit of swoon of late, but they have been great on the road this year. The Knicks are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 road games. The Rockets are just 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.

I like the Knicks to cover here, and I think they have a good chance of winning outright.

New York vs. Houston Score Prediction: New York 114 Houston 109
