N.Y. Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks Gambling & NBA Handicapping Prediction

NY vs Atlanta NBA Picks

The Knicks continue to struggle along showing no obvious signs that they are interested in making the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference. To get there they are going to have to climb over a few team. [ad-4468020]

New York

Beating Atlanta would help as it would also knock down a team that not that long ago looked like a sure bet to make the playoffs themselves. Eastern Conference basketball is not alway compelling but after Miami and Indiana it is very tight.

Carmelo Anthony is second in the league in scoring and has been putting up some really big numbers of late. He has scored 36 or more points in three of his last 4 games but the rest of the team has been pretty inconsistent. I guess that is to be expected when you have guys like J.R. Smith and Amare Stoudemire on your team. At least they have Tyson Chandler who gives a max effort every night.

In typical Knick fashion they lost at Orlando last night – overtime. New York gave up 129 points making Melo’s 44 moot. This is a good bounce back spot but I have no confidence in the Knicks right now and urge you to be careful with them too. Both of these teams are very flawed. Oddly they are 2-0 ATS in the second of back to back on on the road.

Atlanta

The Hawks are sliding big time right now. As alluded to above they once looked like a sure thing playoff squad in the East but they have lost their last 8 games and with the roster they have there is not a lot of hope for a big time rebound. Some of those games have been close but there have been embarrassing losses too like when they lost to Washington earlier in the week by nearly 20 points.

When you look at the Hawks lineup it is no surprise they are struggling. PF Paul Milsap is a legit player but the rest of the guys they are throwing out there should probably be in reserve roles. They lost to Detroit last night and it was nice to see Shelvin Mack and Mike Scott chip in more than 20 points each but really they should be buried on the bench not logging heavy minutes for a team currently in the playoffs

Atlanta is in a funk but they have generally been solid at home going 15-10 ATS. However, be aware that they are just 4-9 SU and ATS when playing on 0 days rest. They are using so many guys who are playing more minutes than expected it is hard to know how they are going to respond.
