Memphis snapped a 4-game losing streak with a win over the Heat (103-95), which should get them on track.
I thought this point spread would be bigger. Both of these teams are excellent, but the Spurs have dealt with a lot of injuries lately. Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard will both miss this match-up tonight.

Memphis is much healthier, but Zach Randolph is questionable for this game. If Randolph doesn’t suit up it means Jon Leuer will likely start and he has been playing well with his recent expanded role.
Leuer will likely have trouble guarding Tim Duncan, but expect some double teams on the big veteran, as the Spurs offense is limited with Parker and Leonard out. Memphis can afford to cheat a bit on Duncan.
The Grizzlies have a solid offense, but they’ve been great this defense because of a suffocating defense that only allows 97.6 PPG (7th). The Spurs offense comes in averaging 102.8 PPG (9th) and 24.4 APG (5th).

Memphis averages 102.3 PPG (11th) and 22.7 APG (10th) on offense. Marc Gasol leads the team in points (20.2 PPG) and he has a nice match-up today against Tiago Splitter who isn’t a great defender.
The Spurs allow 98.9 PPG (11th), but that number has been increasing lately because they’ve really been missing the defensive play of Leonard. Memphis has to get out early at home on a beat up Spurs team.
I’ll be on Memphis to cover the small point spread at home because they have more depth right now and should be able to run the Spurs into the floor. It wouldn’t surprise me if this one got out of hand.
One way the Spurs can keep it close is by winning the battle on the boards. San Antonio averages 44.2 RPG (10th) compared to the Grizzlies 42.2 RPG (17th).

If Randolph sits that edge will be even bigger.

The guard battle will be important in this one for Memphis. Cory Joseph, Danny Green and Marco Belinelli won’t be able to keep up with Mike Conley, Courtney Lee and Tony Allen in this game tonight.
Memphis Grizzlies –2.5 (-110)
Green and Belinelli are way too inconsistent in my opinion and you never know when they’ll drop 20 each or put up a dud. Duncan and Gasol will both have big games in the paint, as both have easy match-ups.
