The Philadelphia 76ers will try to avoid falling into a 0-2 hole when they face the Miami Heat tonight in the second game of this best-of-seven first round matchup in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on TNT.

Philadelphia’s valiant come-from-behind attempt in Saturday’s Game 1 fell short as it lost to Miami 97-89 as a 10 ½-point road underdog. The total stayed ‘under’ the 190 point total. This was the 76ers fourth straight loss to the Heat this season but the closest margin of defeat as they lost the three regular season games by an average of 10.3 points.

Thaddeus Young came off the bench to lead Philadelphia with 20 points and 11 rebounds and Jrue Holiday added 19 points and five assists. The Sixers shot just 41.2 percent from the field after averaging 45.1 percent during the regular season and only managed to pull down 39 rebounds verse the Heats’ 52.

Miami actually trailed by 12 points after the first quarter, but put on the jets in the second by outscoring Philly 35-18 to take a five point lead at the half. The Heat extended the lead to 11 points in the third quarter and held off the Sixers in the fourth after they closed the gap to 88-87 late in the fourth.

Chris Bosh played one of his best games of the season, scoring a game-high 25 points while pulling down 12 rebounds. LeBron James also came up big with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Dwyane Wade added 17 points and five assists in the winning effort. Miami took advantage of Philadelphia’s 25 personal fouls by going 31-for-39 from the free-throw line. It shot just 41.9 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from three-point range which were both well-below its season average.

The 76ers proved it can play with Miami and while they have a ton of heart, they simply cannot match the talent level of the Heat when the game is on the line.

NBA Gambling Trends:
PHI are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 Mon. games.
Under is 7-2 in MIA last 9 vs. NBA Atlantic.
Under is 12-5-1 in the last 18 meetings.
Home team is 17-8 ATS in the last 25 meetings.

The Pick: Expect more of the same in Game 2 as Philadelphia keeps things close enough to cover in another tough loss.
