Bettors may have a trickier task than they realize for tonight’s Lakers/Grizzlies matchup. The quick reaction is to throw down on the Lakers, dust off your hands and be done with it. But L.A. is just 7-16 against the spread over its last 23 meetings with Memphis. The Lakers have also lost two straight games. 
Still, the Lakers could be a good bet to bounce back tonight. This is still the NBA’s highest-scoring team, averaging 109.5 points per game. With Pau Gasol really elevating his play to help Kobe Bryant, L.A. hasn’t missed a beat in Andrew Bynum’s absence. The Lakers are the No.3 offensive rebounding team in the league.
Also, this Memphis team doesn’t look as good as the one that won 40 games last year. The Grizz are 28th in rebounding margin, 20th in scoring defense and 24th in opposing three-point percentage. The Lakers already hammered them 124-105 earlier this month. 5.5 points doesn’t seem like an unreasonable spread for the defending champs to cover.
