ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Knicks lead the series 2-1, but are concluding a disappointing 2014 campaign, and although having been eliminated from playoff contention, they’ve won five of their last seven games and are playing some of their best basketball of the year.

For the season, New York (35-45) has been somewhat short of impressive offensively, scoring 98.5 points on 44.9 percent shooting.

Guard Tim Hardaway Jr. ‘s recent slump is indicative of how the Knicks’ season has gone this year, but the veteran did recover with 20 points Sunday after totaling nine points on 4-of-18 shooting in his previous three outings.

Meanwhile, all-star forward Carmelo Anthon, whose free agency will be looming over the summer, is shooting just 18.8 percent from three in his last five games and is doubtful for this game.

Likewise, Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston and Alan Anderson are both questionable for Tuesday’s meeting with the Knicks, and join a list of Nets’ players who are battling health issues heading into the postseason, which includes Paul Pierce, who is questionable in this matchup with a shoulder injury he suffered on Sunday.

Kevin Garnett is also questionable, despite having played 19 minutes Sunday — his longest stint since returning to the lineup April 5.

The Nets (44-36) will likely rest everyone here as they have pretty much locked up he No. 5 seed in the East and are just waiting to find out if they will begin the playoffs at Chicago or at Toronto.

Brooklyn has won four of its last six games and average 98.7 points on 46 percent shooting and allow 99.2 points on 45.7 percent shooting.

Free NBA Pick

New York-The Knicks have taken two of the three meetings this season, including a 113-83 win at Brooklyn on Dec. 5.

And since this game has no real bearing on the Brooklyn’s postseason, I expect them to rest the majority of their line up to get them healthy for the playoffs, providing the Knicks with a prime opportunity to pick up a meaningless win here.

Knicks 96, Knicks 92
