ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

While New York is just 1-3 ATS this season, Charlotte ha actually been dynamite against the spread of late, going 6-1-1 against the number overall and 5-0 ATS at home dating back to last season. On the year, the Bobcats have won both of their home games, covering the spread each time.

Their win in New York is their only road win of the season. Kemba Walker led the team in points in that one with 25, but he didn’t have such a great night in the team’s last game, a 92-90 win over Toronto.

Walker was held to just five points on 2-of-13 shooting in that one. Guard Gerald Henderson picked up the slack in the scoring department, putting up 23 points to lead the team. Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was able to put up 14 points despite just seven shots from the field.

Center Bismack Biyombo had a very impressive night, leading the team with nearly 40 minutes of court time, scoring eight points and adding 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Despite Walker’s poor shooting night, the Bobcats shot 49.3 percent from the field, but their 56.7 percent mark from the charity stripe could use some work.

While Charlotte had a sandwich game, New York has been off since their last game against Charlotte. That leaves the team some time to start preparing for life without Tyson Chandler, who only played seven minutes in that one. The logical successor would be Andrea Bargnani, who has started for several years in Toronto with varying degrees of success.

He’s been a disappointment since being acquired by the Knicks in the offseason, and an increased role could be just what it takes to jump start his production.

Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin are also available to play some of those ‘big’ minutes, but expect to see the team employ a smaller lineup more often than not with Carmelo Anthony playing the power forward role.

It’s difficult for most to understand, but Tyson Chandler might just be the most important player on the Knicks with all he contributes under the boards and on defense. With him, the Knicks are a middle of the pack playoff team.

Without him, they’re going to struggle most nights, and that’s what we can expect from them on this night against a surging Bobcats team that’s won three of its last four games.

Charlotte is 4-0 ATS in their last four games against New York.

The play: Charlotte ML +125
