Spurs The Team To Bet On Tonight

The San Antonio Spurs are backed by an interesting nba betting trend Tuesday night as they get ready to host their arch rivals, the Dallas Mavericks.

San Antonio (37-17) is returning from a grueling eight-game road trip that happens every year when the rodeo is in town and using their arena.

A lot of teams coming off long road trips will play flat in their first game at home, but not the Spurs. In the six seasons following the ‘Rodeo Trip’ the Spurs have won and covered the spread every time with the average margin of victory a whopping 18.6 PPG.

The Spurs try to continue this betting trend when they host Dallas at 8:30 pm ET on NBA TV. You can get all the latest odds here and remember you can earn points betting on the game at Sportsbook.com with our exclusive basketball Beat the House promotion.

The first question bettors want to know is why are the Spurs able to play so great every year coming off their long trip? The answer is this is a veteran team led by Tim Duncan and they know late February is the time to start a push towards another championship.

Less mentally tough teams would get distracted when losing a guy like Manu Ginobili, who is out another couple of weeks with a shin injury. The Spurs did drop their first game after the Ginobili injury at the New York Knicks, but they rebounded to win their last two at Detroit and Washington to end the trip, covering the spread both times.

Dallas (33-22) is one of those in-between teams in the NBA. They are not good enough to win a title anymore, but they are good enough to make the playoffs.

The Mavericks have had the reverse schedule of the Spurs of late, playing five out of their last six at home. Dallas has a good overall road record at 14-14 straight-up and 16-12 ATS, but a lot of that road damage was done early in the season and they are only 5-7 ATS away in the New Year.

The good news is that Dallas has played well in San Antonio over the last few years, going 3-2 straight-up and 4-1 ATS. Included in that was a 98-81 win in San Antonio on November 4th. Ginobili was out for that game as well after off-season ankle surgery.

There are no secrets between these teams as they have gone through so many battles over the years.

Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki is a big matchup problem for the Spurs with his ability to shoot it from outside and draw his defender away from the basket. He scored 65 points in the two meetings this year.

On the other side, point guard Tony Parker is a total mismatch against the aging Jason Kidd, being able to get in the paint at will to score and distribute.

Can the Spurs cover again and keep this betting trend going another year? You decide at Sportsbook.com.
