TThe Milwaukee Bucks continue their push towards the playoffs when they square off tonight against the 76ers at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia in a 7:05 start.
Milwaukee has been one of the hottest teams in the East since the beginning of March, compiling a record of 14-5 over that span to put them right in the thick of the playoff picture. With an overall record of 44-34 they are currently tied with Miami for the fifth spot in the conference.
While they cannot catch Atlanta or Boston for the fourth seed, if they falter down the stretch they could still end up the seventh seed and a date with Orlando in the first round of the playoffs so tonight’s game almost becomes a must win affair. Much of their success can be attributed to the late season acquisition of John Salmons from Chicago.
In his 26 games with the Bucks he is averaging a team high 20.3 points a game. Andrew Bogut has also elevated his game as he is averaging 15.9 points and a team high 10.9 rebounds on the year. Another key player for this team is Brandon Jennings. He is averaging 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game.
Along with these three, Milwaukee has gotten better production off the bench and has established themselves as one of those teams you do want to have to face in the playoffs.
Two weeks ago after losing eight of nine games, the 76ers shocked Milwaukee on the road 101-86. They followed this up with another upset win, beating Atlanta 105-98. This new found success did not last long as they have proceeded to lose their last five games including a hard fought 95-99 loss to Miami on Wednesday night.
They actually lead the season series against the Bucks 2-1 with the first win coming in the second game of the season. It remains to be seen how much enthusiasm they will bring into this game as I would think they are looking forward to a merciful end to a dismal season. The fact they are playing in Philly will have little effect on the situation as they actually have a better road record (14-25) than they do at home (12-27). 
If they are to have any chance in this game they will need a huge effort from Andre Igoudala (17.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game), who is easily the best player on this team. Without a consistent effort from players like Elton Brand and Samuel Dalembert, it is often left up to Igoudala to try and win it himself.
Philadelphia is a hard team to figure out. Just when you think they are ready to roll over and die, they come up with enough of an effort to keep a game like this close.
Given the fact that this is their second to last home game of the season, look for them to try and entertain the home town crowd with a solid effort.
