Miami Heat vs. Brooklyn Nets Gambling & NBA Handicapping Prediction

Miami vs Brooklyn NBA Picks

This is the second game of back to backs on the road for Miami so maybe the Nets are catching them at a good time. The Heat are cozy atop the Southeast standings and have closed the gap on Indiana atop the Eastern standings.

Miami

They have rebounded nicely since a home loss to the Warriors last week.  Golden State is the league’s hottest team right now though so there is nothing to be ashamed of there.

As usual forward Lebron James is all everything for Miami, leading the team in scoring, rebounding and assists.  I thought this might be the year we saw more from PG Mario Chalmers but he is barely playing or producing more than Norris Cole at this point.  The addition of PF Michael Beasley has given their bench more scoring punch and enables them to play with some interesting lineup. They are still tinkering a little.

Miami is probably the most public team in the league right now which means it should be no surprise that they are not great against the number. They are especially bad ATS at home but a reasonable 9-7 on the road. The key is finding the right situations.  This might be one of them as Brooklyn has been playing better after a poor start.

Miami

Brooklyn is on their best run of the season with 4 straight wins heading into this one.  Even more impressive is that they had an answer for the red hot Warriors the last time out, not only beating them but holding them below 100 points. With the way they have been playing most of this season being more committed on defense is not a bad idea. The question is whether their recent spurt is a change or an aberration.

I think even SG Joe Johnson got the message that he was supposed to be a complementary player this season.  As it turns out though he is the team’s leading scorer and reminded us of the player we used to see in Atlanta with 50 points over his last two games. He can be the lead dog for a while but if this team is going to get back in the race they need more consistent play from everyone, regardless of their track record.

On their four game winning streak they have covered all 4 times including twice as underdogs. Still this team is under .500 ATS this season but it has been encouraging the way they have upset top teams Golden State and Oklahoma City of late. I am just not sure they have another one of those games in them against King James.
