San Antonio Spurs vs. L.A. Lakers Preview

On the season the Spurs are 2-5 ATS and they have an O/U record of 2-5 and the Lakers are 4-3-1 ATS and they have an Under record of 6-2.

This season the Lakers are 1-3 at home and the Spurs are 2-2 on the road.

In their last games the Spurs beat the Golden State Warriors 113-100 and the Lakers lost to the New Orleans Hornets 109-102.

After a slow start to the season the Spurs have won 2 straight and they head to L.A. as the 7.5-point betting favorites taking on the 1-win Lakers. In winning 2 straight the Spurs only committed 8 turnovers in each game after averaging over 18 in their first 4.

The Spurs are 7-2 in their last 9 regular season games facing the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant is back for the Lakers and his scoring numbers are solid, but he is shooting a career worst FG% of 38.8%. The Lakers’ offense has been decent so far on the young season, but the same cannot be said about their defense. They only rank 30th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

The Lakers’ D has simply been terrible all over the court, as they are allowing opponents to shoot over 40% from beyond the 3-point arc and are giving up an average of 47.5 ppg in the paint, which is the most in the league.

The Lakers starting 5 is pretty good, but their bench simply does not have a lot of talent and their bench has been outscored 72-32 in their last 2 games.

The original Big 3 of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker still lead the Spurs and Parker leads the team averaging 19.1 ppg. However, Kawhi Leonard has stepped up as of late combining to score 45 points in the last 2 games after only having 38 in his first 4 games of the season.

Jordan Hill and Carolos Boozer have to score in the paint and also play solid defense not allowing the Spurs to get easy buckets in the lane. Kobe will get his points, but facing the Spurs he has to shoot a better FG%.

4* Cappers NBA Free Pick

I think Kobe and company will be fired up to play the defending champions and while they may not win they will give San Antonio a game and cover the 7.5-point spread at home.
