Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks Preview

On the season the Cavs are 44-48 ATS and they have an O/U record of 37-54-1 and the Hawks are 55-37-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 47-47.

This season the Hawks are 40-7 at home and the Cavs are 26-20 on the road.

In their last games the Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls 94-73 and the Wizards beat the Washington Wizards 94-91.

Can LeBron James make it to the finals for the 5th straight season? He did it in 4 straight while with the Heat and now back in Cleveland looks to get back to the promised land. However, the Cavs lost 3 of 4 regular season games against the Hawks and they are the betting underdog in Game 1 on the road.

Since the NBA switched the conference final format in the 1970-1971 season this is the first time the Hawks have made the conference finals.

The Cavs are a little banged up entering this series, as Kevin Love is out and Iman Shumpert and Tristan Thompson are also dealing with injuries. However, the time off for Cleveland has helped star PG Kyrie Irving get healthier after some leg injuries have hampered him.

Obviously the player the Hawks have to worry about the most is LeBron James, who averaged 24 ppg in 3 regular season match ups. In the last game he only had 18 points and had 9 turnovers and the Hawks would love to see that in the box score after tonight’s game.

Al Horford and Paul Millsap are the 2 big guys in the paint for the Hawks and they must play well in this game and in the series. Inside scoring will especially be a key if fellow All Star Kyle Korver’s shooting slump continues. He has made only 1 for his last 12 3-pointers and for the playoffs is 35/100 from deep. He and Jeff Teague have to score from the outside to open up the lane for the big guys.

James and Irving are the key guys, but the Cavs need other contributors as well, which is exactly what they got in the Bulls series.

Still, the Hawks will win if they keep the 2 Cleveland All Stars from having big games.

4* Cappers NBA Free Pick

The Cavs have to be confident heading into this series, especially after laying a 21-point beat down on the Bulls in Chicago to close out the last series. They lost 3 of 4 facing the Hawks this season, but they will win in Atlanta tonight.
