NBA Betting – Utah Jazz vs. LA Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers (0-3 SU & ATS) are off to a much poorer start than expected. On Monday night they will try to chalk up their first win of the season as they play host to the Utah Jazz (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) in NBA sports betting action that is set to tip off at 10:30 PM ET at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Monday. November 3
BetUS NBA Basketball Sports Betting Odds: UTAH -6.5, Total 187.5

Here are some of the NBA pro basketball sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* UTAH is 4-7-1 ATS in its last 12 games
* UTAH has won four of its last six games SU
* UTAH has lost four of its last five road games SU
* UTAH has played four of its last six road games UNDER the total
* LA has lost its last ten games SU
* LA has covered one of its last ten games
* LA has lost its last six home games SU
* LA is 0-6 ATS in its last six home games
* LA has played 14 of its last 20 home games UNDER the total

Also….

* UTAH has won and covered four of the last five meetings
* Eight of the last 12 meetings have gone OVER the total
* LA has won and covered six of the last eight meetings as the home team
* Five of the last six meetings in L.A. have gone OVER the total

This is a quick turnaround from Saturday’s game, which was something the Clippers would like to forget. Even though they hit 90% of their free throws, they could not shoot better than 40% from the floor, had only twelve assists, and turned the ball over 18 times to only four for Utah. They were actually tied at the half, and were outscored by a 53-31 margin in the game’s final 24 minutes. They also faded late against Denver on Friday night, losing a double-digit second half lead and losing by ten points in overtime. All of this, along with a 117-79 loss on opening night to the Lakers, makes for a dreadful start for a team that had high hopes after significant off-season acquisitions.

And speaking of those acquisitions, they may be out of action. Marcus Camby, who was to be the defensive enforcer, hasn’t played yet, suffering the effects of a bruised heel. And Baron Davis went down with a hip injury against the Jazz, leaving him listed on a day-to-day basis. Both could play here, or both could be out.

To be fair, the Jazz is without its point guard. Deron Williams has a sprained left ankle, and the earliest he is likely to be back is Wednesday. Ronnie Price is handling the point guard duties in his absence. Carlos Boozer has been picking up the slack, scoring 25 points in both of Utah’s games and making 23 of his 36 field goal attempts (64%).

The thing about the Clippers is that they just don’t seem to have any home court advantage, dropping their last six at the Staples Center to the number. Maybe they should get their own arena, not one where they are second-level tenants. But this team doesn’t have any stamina whatsoever, being outscored by 24 points a game after the start of the second half. This is not a winning or covering formula. Let’s take the Jazz and lay the 6.5 points, as it is posted in the BetUS NBA basketball sports betting odds.
