Orlando Magic at Charlotte Bobcats Game Four Preview/Free Pick

The Orlando Magic have a commanding 3-0 lead in the best of seven series heading into Game Four tonight in Charlotte at 8:00 PM. What has been the difference in the series?

Matchup: Charlotte vs. Orlando Odds

Time: Monday at 8:05PM
Venue: Time Warner Cable Arena
Spread: Magic -4½
Over/Under: 184

Quite honestly, the Orlando Magic are just a better basketball team than the Charlotte Bobcats at this point. Michael Jordan’s team is getting much better, but they just aren’t in the same level as the Orlando Magic.  The Magic shoot the ball much better from the floor than Charlotte does, and they have done a solid job in making life difficult on the Bobcats in the half-court offense.

Everyone tends to think of Orlando as an offensive team because of the amount of three-pointers they put in, but the truth is Orlando led the NBA in field goal defense this year. They allow their opponents to shoot just 43.8% from the field.

Charlotte is able to control the tempo of the game and force a low scoring game, but that hasn’t bothered the Magic because of their new focus on the defensive end. The Bobcats have gotten a solid series out of Stephen Jackson, but many of his teammates have been no shows in this series.

Boris Diaw has plenty of talent, but his three straight games of six points or less just aren’t helping the Bobcats get it done.

Larry Hughes actually had a nice Game Three, but we all know they shouldn’t count on his production.

Jameer Nelson scored 32 points in Game One and matched that amount once again in Game Three. It really seemed as if the Bobcats would get the series back to 2-1, but Nelson and the Magic took over when it really counted in the fourth quarter.

The Magic have Nelson, Howard, Lewis, Carter, and plenty of other scoring weapons.

It will be interesting to see how much intensity Charlotte comes out with in this game. The Bobcats aren’t going to win this series, but one would hope they have some pride and make Game Four a solid contest.

The key to the game for Charlotte will be getting contributions from multiple players on the offensive end.

Game Four: Charlotte vs Orlando Free Pick

Under 184.5 – I expect Charlotte to keep the tempo low in this one and try to win a grind it out type of basketball game.

They have actually down a very good job on Dwight Howard in this series thus far. I think this game stays tight to the end, but both teams struggle from the floor. The under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two in Charlotte. Orlando has turned into a nice under team on the road, with 26 of their last 41 road games going under the posted total.

The pick here is the under.
