Somehow, despite a lack of rest and a 101 fever, Nowitzski found the energy to play Game 4, and ala Michael Jordan in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA finals, still managed to lead his team to a pivotal victory on Tuesday night in Dallas.

After struggling htrough the first three quarters, Dallas’ Nowitzski battled a severe cold and the Miami Heat, scoring 10 of his 21 points and five of his 11 rebounds in the fourth period, lifting the Mavericks to an 86-83 victory that tied the series at two games apiece.

This now sets up a Game 5 in Dallas on Thursday, and you can be sure that Nowitzski will be on the floor again.

Tuesday’s margin of victory brought the series to three-straight games that have been decided by three points or less, making this season’s finals one for the ages. From the outstanding play ny Miami’s Dwyane Wade to Notwitzski’s one-man heroics, it has been an exciting rollercoaster ride chalked full of remarkable headlines.

The German star, who had already single handily won Game 2 by scoring the final nine points in a dramatic late rally despite having torn a tendon in his middle finger. Shook off the injury in Game 3 again, draining Dallas’ final points in a valiant comeback that came up just two points short.

It’s quite possible that if Notwitzski was 100 percent, the series might well be slanted in Dallas’ favor heading into Thursday’s contest.

But let’s not lean too far just yet, as Miami’s Wade put on a another All-star performance in Game 4, dominating both ends of the court, adding a blocked dunk attempt by Tyson Chandler that made the highlight reel.

Wade led the Heat for the third consecutive game, going 13-for-20, with 32 points, six rebounds and a pair of dishes. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

It more than made up for LeBron James’ disappearing act.

“King” James made just 3-of-11 shots through three, before fading away into the background in the fourth, failing to score while taking only one shot in 12 minutes of action. He finished with just eight points, ending a double-figure scoring streak of 433 consecutive games, regular and post season. It was his fewest points ever in the playoffs.

Miami scored a series-low 14 points in the fourth quarter, committing six turnovers, while other than Miami’s big three, none of the Heat scored more than six points. Chris Bosh scored 24.

Recent Trends:
MIA are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
DAL are 14-37-2 ATS in their last 53 Thu. games.
DAL are 20-8-2 ATS in their last 30 games overall.
Under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Dallas.
Road team is 21-8-2 ATS in the last 31 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Dallas – Of the past 26 times the finals have been tied at two, the Game 5 winner has won it all 19 times. Last year was one of the exceptions, with the Celtics winning Game 5 and the Lakers taking the last two. The 2006 finals between these teams also was tied 2-2, but Miami overcame a 0-2 deficit to win four straight.

It will defiantly be a battle to the end, but I expect Dallas to take advantage of their veteran leadership and home court advantage to take another close one in Game 5.
