Like Charlie Sheen says, it’s all about winning, and maybe the Miami Heat are starting to figure this winning thing out.

Granted, they’ve played but one game in the Eastern semis and yes it was at home and yes a playoff series doesn’t really start until a home team has lost serve. But the way the Heat beat down on the Celtics in Game 1 got everyone’s attention, and it’s hard to imagine how in the world Boston’s relics can manufacture a way to win four of the next six games.

The Celtics figured that they could rattle the Heat with their pressure defense, but in fact it’s the other way around. Miami’s double-team on Paul Pierce frustrated him so much that he lost his cool just when he was coming out of his first-half coma, and two techs sent him to the locker room, carrying with him any legitimate shot Boston had of stealing it. Pierce has a history of playoff meltdowns, especially on the road.

There are few coaches better at making adjustments than Doc Rivers is, but Rivers’ hoop acumen will be tested to the nth degree as he tries to cajole his team into guarding both Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, and at the time find a way to close on the suddenly-on-fire James Jones. If Jones even produces half as much as he did in the opener (25 points, 28 minutes and 5 dagger 3-pointers), it could be game-set-match before the series even heads north for Games 3 and 4.

Boston’s loss in Game 1 increases the pressure to bring back Shaquille O’Neal, who up to this point has been accorded the luxury of staying in street clothes. The possibility of a 2-0 deficit might force the Celtics to make a now-or-never decision on the Big Nonfactor.

NBA Trends:

BOS are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Tue. games.
Under is 11-4-1 in BOS last 16 road games.
Under is 19-7-1 in BOS last 27 overall.
MIA are 4-13 ATS in their last 17 Tue. games.
MIA are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Atlantic.
BOS are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
Favorite is 14-6 ATS in the last 20 meetings.

BEST BET: Under bettors took a beating in the opener when a slow start didn’t translate into a low-scoring game due to hot shooting by Jones, Wade and Ray Allen.

Looking for another over in this one as Rivers pleads with Rondo to push the ball on every possession.
